Hope Happens (Clearwater Crossing, 12)
Published in Paperback by Skylark (01 December, 1999)
Author: Laura Peyton Roberts

I couldn't put it down!
Laura Peyton Roberts has done it again! I couldn't put this one down either! I especially liked the way she is so detailed, you feel as though you are watching the story take place right before your eyes. She picks topics that really relate to teenagers, any one of EIGHT PRIME could really be me or my friends! She keeps me hanging at the end with her cliff hangers, that is the only draw-back to the Clearwater Crossing series. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book to find out what happens with Jenna and Peter, Melanie and Jesse, Nicole and Guy, Leah and Miguel, Ben, and Sarah!

Another 5 star book from Laura Peyton Roberts
Who knew that after one boring day in the bookstore I would end up this obsessed with a series? The Clearwater Crossing series is truly an original series, and I love it! I love how Roberts can make you involved in each one of the lives of Eight Prime. Hope Happens is a good example of how she can make you look into the deepest depth of the character's souls. I now feel connected to each character, and I can't wait until the next book comes out. The book will make you laugh, cry, and smile with joy! I would recommend it to anybody looking for a wholesome good read.

Wonderfully Done-Again!
This book-as the others-wonderfully displays how teens today cope with life's accidents. They portray how we feel almost always, and while I've never coped with anyone I love being in a car accident, I know that I would feel just as horrible as the next person. L.P.Roberts did an excellent job with this book as in the last 11 books-I've read (and have) them all. So, I believe that these books are easy, and good for us all. Maybe they're good because they take our focus off of us and let us see other people's problems and lives in a new light. I recommend this book (and series) to anyone who needs a "breather" from all the hype that is associated with us teens.

Creedence Clearwater Revival: The Guitar Anthology Series
Published in Paperback by Warner Brothers Publications (01 April, 1991)
Author: Creedence Clearwater Revival
Average review score:

Learning Rock Guitar? Start here...
Without a doubt, Creedence Clearwater Revival is one of the best, and most important, rock and roll bands that America ever produced. And the chief creative driving force behind this band was John Fogerty, the main songwriter, singer, and lead guitarist.

Many of Fogerty's immortal classics are contained in this terrific book: Proud Mary, Born On The Bayou, Bad Moon Rising, Green River, Fortunate Son, Lodi, Who'll Stop The Rain?, Up Around The Bend, Have You Ever Seen The Rain?...this small group alone is enough to insure CCR's inclusion on any Rock and Roll 'Hall of Fame' lists...

What makes these songs so memorable are the simple, yet brilliant, guitar passages that John Fogerty always crafted his songs with. Both the rhythm and lead parts to these songs are all derived from the basic roots of rock and roll guitar...learn them, and you will have a terrific foundation on which to build your own guitar vocabulary and style, whatever direction you decide to go.

The tablature to these songs are accurate and spot on, yet not too complicated or overwhelming for someone just beginning to learn how to play...if you are familiar with the songs, this book will show you how to play cool sounding stuff very quickly...

With great songs, great guitar parts, and great guitar tablature to match, this book is a great value for the money. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. lr*****

If you like Creedence and want to play it, this is your book
This book basically breaks down all the chords making their near-perfect music very easy to play. I am a novice at guitar, and I found this book very helpful, some some of it is just way too advanced for me. I highly recommend it for those who want to play good music.

Just Friends (Clearwater Crossing, No 5)

CLEARWATER CROSSING BOOKS ARE THE BEST!
I use to hate reading. One day I was in the bookstore I noticed the Clearwater Crossing books. I got book #1 and I didn't start reading it till i had it for over a month. I got around to reading it and I LOVED it. In the past 3 months I've read through book #5 and I'm starting on #6. Also I've got 2 friends of mine hooked on the books.

A touching memento
The reason I love clearwater crossing books is that they are so much like reality. This book was sad because I just broke up with my boyfriend and then in the book Ben gets refused for a date so just all of it is sad. Maybe it's me being in an emotional state, but I think anyone having just broke up should read this book. Either to get mad or softened, (it depends on whom broke up with whom) I also know you should listen to soft slow music like jazz or maybe even classical. One think you shouldn't listen to is rock or R&B because it'll make your heart beat faster and then you will want to finish the book. Don't rush through Just Friends, take your time to let the words and thoughts linger and be able to really understand what they mean. Maybe you are thinking right now "why should I listen to this wacko" Please don't think of me that way, I'm really a nice person and please take my advice. Cheers to CCHS!

Great Book, Great Series
I thought this book was fantastic. The whole series is great, it deals with a lot of things we can relate to, like relationships and everything else people go through when they're in high school. And these are the only young adult books I've ever read that dealt with religion so openly. This book is probably my favorite in the series. I love all of the surprise it throws in, especially with Peter and Jenna!

Wake up and read this.
Book Title: Skin deep

Author: Laura Peyton Roberts.

Exposition: Jenna is joining as many cool sessions as she can and wants Nicole to join her. Nicole wants to spot a star and become one herself. Melanie is very focused on Jesse every where she goes she sees his faces. Jesse is getting focused on his work even though Melanie is his only true he isn't obsessed with her like she is with him. Leah is trying to focus on modeling competition, and the studies for a scholarship, but all she can think about is Miguel's proposal.

Explanation of character and their role in the book: They all have a boyfriend and girlfriend. Miguel is a romantic person. Leah is a very pleasurable and smart person. Melanie is very fastidious but agitated. Jesse is very self centered person. Jenna expects to much from others. And Nicole just minds her own bissnieuss.

Character motivation: They are all into something whether it's a person or studies.

Strengths and weaknesses of the book: It was a really finicky book and a very good quality style of writing.

You better read this awesome book or else...
Are you interested in teen life related books? Skin Deep, by Laura Peyton Roberts, is an amazing book that will attract you to it. It may be a fiction book, but this is a book you will not want to miss out on! It's about a group of girls that have an all expense paid trip to California. Leah won the modeling competition in Clearwater Crossing, Missouri, so she has advanced to the U.S Girls Competition. Jenna, Melanie, Nicole, and herself all are glad to be going to the trip to California to escape their problems. I'm sorry, but to find out the rest of this fantastic book, you have to go out and read it!

This book was such a great book that I recommend it to all the females in the world. I don't think boys will enjoy it too much, because they won't enjoy the problems girls have, and also this is a book that relates to what girl go through in life. So I would definitely recommend this great book to girls in their teen and preteen years. I think that I really enjoyed this book, because I can kind of relate to some of the problems the girls in this book go through on everyday basis. Also, it's exciting to see what happens when there is a problem going on and they solve it. This book never made my mind wander of into outer space. My mind was fully paying attention to this book and also my mind was at work thinking of what was going to happen next. So, I think that if you girls, who I think will enjoy this more than the boys will, read this book. I'm pretty sure that you will enjoy it and thank me for it!

Overall, I hope you saw why I believe that Skin Deep, By Laura Peyton Roberts, is such a great book to read. Not only is it a fabulous book to read, but for most of you girls out there, it should somewhat relate to your life story. At least your teen life should relate a little bit to this book. This book is such a great page-turner, mind thinker, fun, and so much more positive things you can imagine in a book! So, I encourage you to get up on your feet, and get this book, and start reading!

The Beauty of this book is beyond Skin Deep
This book is wonderful. I loved it and it couldn't be better.
I really liked how the setting was in california at a beauty contest.I don't know why but to me, I found it an interesting setting. I'm not sure why, but browsing the library I just saw this book sticking out of the shelf and it just grabbed my eye so i checked it out and i read it and it's one of my favorite books!

Dream on (Clearwater Crossing, No 13)
Published in Paperback by Skylark (March, 1900)
Author: Laura Peyton Roberts
Average review score:

Alright, but a little topsy turvy.
This book, Dream On, is pretty good. It tends to follow the outline of the other books. Unfortunately, it leaves you with a million cliff-hangers. =) It is rather exciting, and has a lot of glimpses of character that are interesting. Overall, I think it is a pretty good book, I might even read it again someday. I suggest you read it if you are a fan of Clearwater Crossing books, it is an important part of the whole story.

CWC
This book was suspensful and definately a page turner. if you go for books about teens living through the ups and downs of life this is definately a book for you. i found myself saddened by Miguels loss and silently cheering for Nicole.

Another Excellent Clearwater Crossing!
Once again, we get another great Clearwater Crossing book. This book is truly different from the rest in the series. The guys and gals are facing many issues. Nicole is trying out for cheerleading and wants Melanie to coach her, but Melanie's too busy investigating her mother's past. Ben's got a crush on Angela Maldonado - will he ask her out? And will Jenna and Peter's romance survive - or fizzle out? It's all in this book!

Up Around the Bend: An Oral History (For the Record Series Number 7)
Published in Paperback by Avon (March, 1999)
Authors: Craig Werner, Dave Mash, Dave Marsh, and Craig Warner
Average review score:

Repetitive ...
It was great to have the band members themselves give their view of things, but there's little that couldn't be summed up in a couple of pages. Instead you get countless variations on a few themes: John Fogerty loves the blues, CCR worked hard with John in control, John is a vindictive jerk.

It would have been nice to have heard from a broader range of people: childhood friends, early fans, etc.

GREAT Book CREEDIBLE Reading
if you love Creedence you'll love this book ,do yourslf a favour and read this book about your most favourite band . however not enough photos and they should have been in color .

Great story of CCR
I've enjoyed reading this book many times. I've like the fact that they talk about some of the good times.

Relates to today's teenagers
I really liked this book and the series is wonderful! I have read all eight books and I'm looking forward to the ninth one (it's not out yet)! The topics relate to today's teen and the characters actually sound like REAL teens. If you're wondering if this book is worth buying, it really IS!!!

Great book, great series
I have to say-beware reader! You don't know what you're getting yourself into! You'll be up all night reading this book/series if you start! Trust me. This is a great book to start off a wonderful series. When you read this series, you put yourself in the positions of Jenna, Peter, Leah, Miguel, Ben, and Melanie. You can relate to all of them. So anyways-beware! (If you don't want to have a great time reading!)

This book is not fairy tale, it tells reality
When you read books they are usually about fairy tale lives, the guy gets the girl, the girl marries her prince, ect.... But cleawater crossing books tell about real teen life. Sometimes you might find a part in the story that relates to you. Maybe it might give you advice. Cleawater crossings also are page turner books. Every page leaves you yearning for more. So far I have read 2 of these books in the Clearwater Crossings series and am eagerly awaiting to read the rest. Clearwater crossings are intruging and awesome.

Reality Check (Clearwater Crossing)

A great teen book!
This is definitely one of those books you CANNOT put down! I read the whole thing in 1 day. It is so easy to relate to everyone in this book! If you are a teenager I'd definitely recommend it... especially if you're a hopeless romantic like me! After I finished this book I immediately started reading the next in the series (Heart & Soul) and I'm already half-way through that book too! This series is definitely a great one to get hooked on!

Reality Check
This book had a way of bringing me together with my feelings and I was able to connect to it emotionally. It reminded me a lot of Lurlene McDaniel's books.

Can't put it down
I just LOVE these books, these are the type of books that you just can't put down! I started reading them at the end of December and now I am on book #4! Book #2 Reality Check was probably the most 'can't put it down' book so far, this book you just have to read, read, read until the end, and especially the ending of book #2 I ran out to the store to buy #3 immediatly. I can honestly say that this book is worth every penny you pay for it!

Prime Time (Clearwater Crossing, 18)

Good book!
I have read every book in the Clearwater Crossing series. I like them a lot and it only takes me a few hours to read them. This book was really good. If you are thinking of reading the Clearwater books, start with book one, because you won't understand all what is going on. I am anxious to read book 19 to find out more about Nicole and her new brother or sister, more about Miguel and Leah, Ben and Bernie, Jesse, Melanie, and Melanie's dad's job. I also want to read more about Jenna joining Guy's band, and especially Caitlin and David's wedding plans!!! Clearwater Crossing rocks!

I love all of the Clearwater Crossings books!
I love this book, and all the other ones as well! It was about Melanie leaving Jesse when they finally were back together. And when Miguel helps out at the hospital and with Leah and is having so much fun over the summer. Nicole's mom's having a baby and she is so embaressed, but Jenna tells her how lucky she is. And how she's gonna have this cute little person in the house. And I thought, Just another one of her fabulous books! After I read that #20 is going to be the last one, I felt so sad! It's like one those books that you can never put down, you know? The books are so real, and you feel the characters too. That's how good the books are! I don't know how I'll ever find another series as good as this one. And if the author is reading, to me you are my favorite author! Thanx for writing!

Great summer book for summer!
Like the last few books in this series, I have to say that this one is so good! Things just continue to look up for everyone in Prime Eight.

If you're familiar with the series, it's not hard to say that you seem to know each character. However, in this book, I felt myself feeling proud of some characters- like Jesse, for how he seems to have cleaned up his life, and Miguel buying a house for his family. I felt happy for Melanie, who especially has faced difficult times in the past. All that seems to be changing, as she has found happiness with Jesse, her father has quit drinking, and she's gotten to know more of her family. Even Nicole, despite her constant obsession to lose weight, it showing a glimmer of hope that she might change her attitude about somethings- maybe.

Though this is a Christian series, Peter and Jenna have really been the only ones to practise their faith. However, besides Melanie's increased interest in the Bible, Leah has also started to question some facts she has always known as science. Since one of the reasons I was originally interested in this series was because of it's Christian content, I was pleased to read in this book how at least there is somewhat of a Christian focus.

If you're a fan of the Clearwater Crossing series, this book is a fantastic- and welcome- addition. My only disappointment was how is seemed to focus on particular characters. Ben, though not the most interesting, was hardly mentioned, and Peter also was more in the background this time. However, it was still a terrific read. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Don't Look Back (Clearwater Crossing, 20)

really good
this is a good book.....the part with leah and miguel makes me a bit sad, i actually cried while i read it. since they're graduating, it was bringing out my own feelings about my graduation in june. but its still a good book, just cause a book makes u cry doesn't mean its bad. :-)

Great book!
Don't Look Back is another fantastic read by Laura Peyton Roberts and I highly recommend it to teenagers.

As this is the finale to Clearwater Crossing, we see the lives of the eight members of Eight Prime evolving for the better. Miguel is headed for a bright future in Clearwater University, and has succeeded in his dream of providing a good home for his mother and sister. Leah is filled with bittersweet feelings as she prepares to attend her aspired college while also preparing to leave the town, friends and family that she loves. Peter, as the leader of Eight Prime, strives to lead the group as best as he can, and also strives to provide a warm and loving home for Jason. Jenna is full of satisfaction with her life at this moment, as she continues singing in the band and takes on the new responsibility of being the oldest Conrad sister living at home. Melanie has finally found the contentment and peace that she so desperately yearned for in the beginning of the series. She finally experiences the love of her father, of Jesse, and has managed to fully overcome the grief of her mother's death to look at life anew. She decides to attend the bible-study class that Peter invited her to, showing that she is willing to explore the doubts she faces about Christianity.

While Melanie's life makes a turn for the better, Jesse feels a sense of belonging in his family at last. Nicole also manages to deal with her low self-esteem and her concern with physical appearance. Still in shock over the fact that he has a girlfriend, Ben is no longer as ashamed of himself as before.

As you read this book, you will be filled with mixed emotions. A sense of happiness will fill you as the members of Eight Prime seem to be leading meaningful lives, while a feeling of disappointment will be felt as you realize this is the last book in the series.

However, one negative aspect of the book is that the problems faced by the different characters at the beginning of the series seemed to be solved at too fast a pace. This made it seem rather unrealistic. I wish the series would continue so that readers can find out more about how Eight Prime continue with their lives and how they cope with future problems. Loose ends could be tied up too!

One of my fave in the series
I stumbled across these books by chance in my local library, and have learned to like them. This book is actually about and ending point in the Eight Prime. Leah is going away to college, and Miguel is too, only he'll be at the community college, so he won't be that far away. Finally Nicole starts to have a little faith in herself, but I think she still has some hurtles to overcome, and I think the next few books are going to be tough on her cause everyone knows that the only reason she is on the squad is because Melanie quit. But it's cool that her and Gail are finally starting to work out their problems, and are starting to become real good friends. I think Gail could totally help Nicole realize that it's not about looks. I love the part in this book where Nicole dumbs her man!! ( I think his name is Neil but I can't remember right now) He was mad hitting on Gail at Melanie's pool party, and Nicole just got sick of it cause he was using her anyway.
Melanie is my favorite character, because unlike most cheerleaders, she's not shallow and self asorbed. I wish she wouldn't have quit, cause she was the best, and she did deserve to be there instead of crybaby Nicole. Melanie is so sweet!! She's really nice, and so is Jesse. But hey, at least next year she'll be captain, then maybe Nicole will finally have a sweet caring friend who isn't brainless!!
Jesse is cool as ever too. He is working out his problems with his family, and helps out Brittany (Bee as he calls her) I think Brit is really cool, and hopefully will be mentioned in the later series.
The whole Jenna and Peter thing is as it always is. I always find their plot lines so boring and unrealistic, just plain revolting. Them and their do good ways are so freaking boring!!!! Peyton should have Jenna do something really bad in the upcoming books, and make a really cool twist in the plot, cause Jenna and Peter need some spice in their lives.

Oh well there you go. Can't wait for the next books, and I hope that Leah comes back for a visit real soon, cause her a Miguel are cool!!!
